Please note, however, that this pamphlet does not represent a complete list of the motor vehicle and traffic laws of the various states. Obey the Speed Limit In most states, the maximum highway speed is 65 miles per hour (mph) in rural areas and 55 mph in urban (市区的) areas. Speed limits on secondary roads and in cities and towns are usually significantly lower, generally 30 mph and even lower in school zones.
